The story of “The Basketball Article” is legendary. Waldman and Mayer, two experimental New York City poets, were hired by a Oui, a “gentleman’s magazine,” to write about the NBA. The article they produced was rejected by Oui, and every other outlet they pitched it to. Now, it’s considered a masterpiece, and copies of the self-published chapbook are incredibly rare. So too is this collaboration between Jason Novak x FRANCHISE.
